Ingredients

  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats avoid quick oats for best texture
  • ½ cup milk of choice dairy, almond, oat, or soy; adjust for dietary preferences
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds optional, for added thickness and nutrition
  • Pinch of salt to enhance flavors
  • 1 teaspoon honey maple syrup, or vanilla extract (for sweetness; adjust to taste)
  • Toppings of your choice

Equipment

  • 1 mason jar or sealable container (8-12 ounces)
  • 1 spoon for stirring

Method

  1. In your jar, combine the oats, milk, chia seeds (if using), salt, and sweetener.
  2. Stir well to ensure everything is evenly mixed and the oats are fully coated.
  3. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. In the morning, stir again, add any desired toppings like fresh fruit or nuts, and enjoy cold or warmed up.

Notes

For creamier oats, swap half the milk with yogurt
Store in the fridge up to 3-4 days for meal prep.
Experiment with flavors: add cocoa for chocolate, or cinnamon for warmth.
If too thick, stir in a splash more milk before eating.
